Significance: Light-sheet fluorescence microscopy (LSFM) has emerged as a powerful and versatile imaging technique renowned for its remarkable features, including high-speed 3D tomography, minimal photobleaching, and low phototoxicity. The interference light-sheet fluorescence microscope, with its larger field of view (FOV) and more uniform axial resolution, possesses significant potential for a wide range of applications in biology and medicine. Aim: The aim of this study is to investigate the interference behavior among multiple light sheets (LSs) in LSFM and optimize the FOV and resolution of the light-sheet fluorescence microscope. Approach: We conducted a detailed investigation of the interference effects among LSs through theoretical derivation and numerical simulations, aiming to find optimal parameters. Subsequently, we constructed a customized system of multi-LSFM that incorporates both interference light sheets (ILS) and noninterference light-sheet configurations. We performed beam imaging and microsphere imaging tests to evaluate the FOV and axial resolution of these systems. Results: Using our custom-designed light-sheet fluorescence microscope, we captured the intensity distribution profiles of both interference and noninterference light sheets (NILS). Additionally, we conducted imaging tests on microspheres to assess their imaging outcomes. The ILS not only exhibits a larger FOV compared to the NILS but also demonstrates a more uniform axial resolution. Conclusions: By effectively modulating the interference among multiple LSs, it is possible to optimize the intensity distribution of the LSs, expand the FOV, and achieve a more uniform axial resolution.

Bisboronic esters are critical compounds in various research fields, including drug discovery, chemical biology, and material sciences. Currently, the bisboronic esters with reactive functional groups are difficult to synthesize; this is partially due to the lack of a robust method to produce these products with diverse structures and various functional groups at specific locations. To overcome this issue, this study introduced a Ni-catalysis approach to produce bisboronic esters efficiently via cross-coupling and homocoupling using readily available halogenated boronic esters as the starting material under mild reaction conditions. This newly developed strategy enables Csp2-Csp2, Csp3-Csp3, and Csp2-Csp3 couplings, demonstrating a broad substrate scope and excellent compatibility with various functional groups.

Colorectal cancer (CRC), a major global health concern, may be influenced by dietary protein digestibility impacting gut microbiota and metabolites, which is crucial for cancer therapy effectiveness. This study explored the effects of a casein protein diet (CTL) versus a free amino acid (FAA)-based diet on CRC progression, gut microbiota, and metabolites using carcinogen-induced (AOM/DSS) and spontaneous genetically induced (ApcMin/+ mice) CRC mouse models. Comprehensive approaches including 16s rRNA gene sequencing, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and immunohistochemistry were utilized. We found that the FAA significantly attenuated CRC progression, evidenced by reduced colonic shortening and histopathological alterations compared to the CTL diet. Notably, the FAA enriched beneficial gut bacteria like Akkermansia and Bacteroides and reversed CRC-associated dysbiosis. Metabolomic analysis highlighted an increase in ornithine cycle metabolites and specific fatty acids, such as Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA), in FAA-fed mice. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that FAA up-regulated Egl-9 family hypoxia inducible factor 3 (Egln 3) and downregulated several cancer-associated pathways including Hippo, mTOR, and Wnt signaling. Additionally, DPA was found to significantly induce EGLN 3 expression in CRC cell lines. These results suggest that FAA modulate gut microbial composition, enhance protective metabolites, improve gut barrier functions, and inhibit carcinogenic pathways.

Vis-NIR spectroscopy coupled with chemometric models is frequently used for pear soluble solid content (SSC) prediction. However, the model robustness is challenged by the variations in pear cultivars. This study explored the feasibility of developing universal models for predicting SSC of multiple pear varieties to improve the model's generalizability. The mature fruits of 6 pear cultivars with green skin (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai cv. 'Cuiyu', 'Sucui No.1' and 'Cuiguan') and brown skin (Pyrus pyrifolia Nakai cv. 'Hosui','Syusui' and 'Wakahikari') were used to establish single-cultivar models and multi-cultivar universal models using convolutional neural network (CNN), partial least square (PLS), and support vector regression (SVR) approaches. Multi-cultivar universal models were built using full spectra and important variables extracted by gradient-weighted class activation mapping (Grad-CAM), respectively. The universal models based on important variables obtained satisfactory performances with RMSEPs of 0.76, 0.59, 0.80, 1.64, 0.98, and 1.03°Brix on 6 cultivars, respectively.

BACKGROUND: The identification of survival predictors is crucial for early intervention to improve outcome in acute myeloid leukemia (AML). This study aim to identify chest computed tomography (CT)-derived features to predict prognosis for acute myeloid leukemia (AML). METHODS: 952 patients with pathologically-confirmed AML were retrospectively enrolled between 2010 and 2020. CT-derived features (including body composition and subcutaneous fat features), were obtained from the initial chest CT images and were used to build models to predict the prognosis. A CT-derived MSF nomogram was constructed using multivariate Cox regression incorporating CT-based features. The performance of the prediction models was assessed with discrimination, calibration, decision curves and improvements. RESULTS: Three CT-derived features, including myosarcopenia, spleen_CTV, and SF_CTV (MSF) were identified as the independent predictors for prognosis in AML (P < 0.01). A CT-MSF nomogram showed a performance with AUCs of 0.717, 0.794, 0.796 and 0.792 for predicting the 1-, 2-, 3-, and 5-year overall survival (OS) probabilities in the validation cohort, which were significantly higher than the ELN risk model. Moreover, a new MSN stratification system (MSF nomogram plus ELN risk model) could stratify patients into new high, intermediate and low risk group. Patients with high MSN risk may benefit from intensive treatment (P = 0.0011). CONCLUSIONS: In summary, the chest CT-MSF nomogram, integrating myosarcopenia, spleen_CTV, and SF_CTV features, could be used to predict prognosis of AML.

Three sweet potato varieties with white-, yellow- and purple-fleshed root tubers were harvested at 100, 120, 140 and 160 days after planting (DAP). Their starch structural, thermal, pasting and digestion properties were measured to reveal the influences of harvesting dates on the physicochemical properties of sweet potato root tuber starch. Though starches from different varieties displayed some differences in physicochemical properties due to their different genetic backgrounds, they were influenced by harvesting date in similar ways. Starches isolated from root tubers at 100 and 160 DAP exhibited lower granule sizes than those at 120 and 140 DAP. The amylose content was higher in root tubers at 100 and 120 DAP than at 140 and 160 DAP. Starches from root tubers at 100 DAP exhibited CA-type X-ray diffraction patterns, and then the B-type crystallinity gradually increased at later harvesting dates. The different harvesting dates had no significant effects on the short-ranged ordered structure and lamellar thickness of starch, but the lamellar peak intensity decreased significantly at later harvesting dates. Starch had a lower gelatinization temperature and a wider gelatinization temperature range in root tubers at 140 and 160 DAP than at 100 and 120 DAP. The higher peak viscosity and lower pasting temperature were associated with the late harvesting date. The digestion of starch had slight differences among root tubers at different harvesting dates. The harvesting dates of root tubers played more important roles in starch properties than the variety. This study would be helpful for breeders, farmers and sweet potato starch users.

Introduction: White matter hyperintensities of presumed vascular origin (WMH) are associated with cognitive impairment and are a key imaging marker in evaluating cognitive health. However, WMH volume alone does not fully account for the extent of cognitive deficits and the mechanisms linking WMH to these deficits remain unclear. We propose that lesion network mapping (LNM), enables to infer if brain networks are connected to lesions, and could be a promising technique for enhancing our understanding of the role of WMH in cognitive disorders. Our study employed this approach to test the following hypotheses: (1) LNM-informed markers surpass WMH volumes in predicting cognitive performance, and (2) WMH contributing to cognitive impairment map to specific brain networks. Methods & results: We analyzed cross-sectional data of 3,485 patients from 10 memory clinic cohorts within the Meta VCI Map Consortium, using harmonized test results in 4 cognitive domains and WMH segmentations. WMH segmentations were registered to a standard space and mapped onto existing normative structural and functional brain connectome data. We employed LNM to quantify WMH connectivity across 480 atlas-based gray and white matter regions of interest (ROI), resulting in ROI-level structural and functional LNM scores. The capacity of total and regional WMH volumes and LNM scores in predicting cognitive function was compared using ridge regression models in a nested cross-validation. LNM scores predicted performance in three cognitive domains (attention and executive function, information processing speed, and verbal memory) significantly better than WMH volumes. LNM scores did not improve prediction for language functions. ROI-level analysis revealed that higher LNM scores, representing greater disruptive effects of WMH on regional connectivity, in gray and white matter regions of the dorsal and ventral attention networks were associated with lower cognitive performance. Conclusion: Measures of WMH-related brain network connectivity significantly improve the prediction of current cognitive performance in memory clinic patients compared to WMH volume as a traditional imaging marker of cerebrovascular disease. This highlights the crucial role of network effects, particularly in attention-related brain regions, improving our understanding of vascular contributions to cognitive impairment. Moving forward, refining WMH information with connectivity data could contribute to patient-tailored therapeutic interventions and facilitate the identification of subgroups at risk of cognitive disorders.

Introduction: Cells expressing taste signaling elements in non-gustatory tissues have been described as solitary chemosensory cells (SCCs) or tuft cells. These "taste-like" cells play a critical role in the maintenance of tissue homeostasis. Although the expression of SCC markers and taste signaling constituents has been identified in mouse gingivae, their role in periodontal homeostasis is still unclear. Methods: Public RNA sequencing datasets were re-analyzed and further validated with RT-PCR/qRT-PCR and immunofluorescent staining to explore the expression of TAS2Rs and downstream signaling constituents in mouse gingival fibroblasts (MGFs). The specific action of salicin on MGFs via Tas2r143 was validated with RNA silence, heterologous expression of taste receptor/Gα-gustducin and calcium imaging. The anti-inflammatory effects of salicin against LPS-induced MGFs were investigated in cell cultures, and were further validated with a ligature-induced periodontitis mouse model using Ga-gustducin-null (Gnat3-/-) mice. Results: The expression of Tas2r143, Gnat3, Plcb2, and TrpM5 was detected in MGFs. Moreover, salicin could activate Tas2r143, elicited taste signaling and thus inhibited LPS-induced chemokines expression (CXCL1, CXCL2, and CXCL5) in MGFs. Consistently, salicin-treatment inhibited periodontal bone loss, inflammatory/chemotactic factors expression, and neutrophil infiltration in periodontitis mice, while these effects were abolished in Gnat3-/- mice. Discussion: Gingival fibroblasts play a critical role in the maintenance of periodontal homeostasis via "SCC-like" activity. Salicin can activate Tas2r143-mediated bitter taste signaling and thus alleviate periodontitis in mouse, indicating a promising approach to the resolution of periodontal inflammation via stimulating the "SCC-like" function of gingival fibroblasts.

Introduction: Spinal cord injury (SCI) is a severely disabling disease. Hyperactivation of neuroinflammation is one of the main pathophysiological features of secondary SCI, with phospholipid metabolism playing an important role in regulating inflammation. Phospholipase D (PLD), a critical lipid-signaling molecule, is known to be involved in various physiological processes, including the regulation of inflammation. Despite this knowledge, the specific role of PLD in SCI remains unclear. Methods: In this study, we constructed mouse models of SCI and administered PLD inhibitor (FIPI) treatment to investigate the efficacy of PLD. Additionally, transcriptome sequencing and protein microarray analysis of spinal cord tissues were conducted to further elucidate its mechanism of action. Results: The results showed that PLD expression increased after SCI, and inhibition of PLD significantly improved the locomotor ability, reduced glial scarring, and decreased the damage of spinal cord tissues in mice with SCI. Transcriptome sequencing analysis showed that inhibition of PLD altered gene expression in inflammation regulation. Subsequently, the protein microarray analysis of spinal cord tissues revealed variations in numerous inflammatory factors. Biosignature analysis pointed to an association with immunity, thus confirming the results obtained from transcriptome sequencing. Discussion: Collectively, these observations furnish compelling evidence supporting the anti-inflammatory effect of FIPI in the context of SCI, while also offering important insights into the PLD function which may be a potential therapeutic target for SCI.

Ultrasound extraction (UE) enhanced with deep eutectic solvent (DES) was used to extract Lentinus edodes polysaccharides. Box-Behnken design (BBD) was applied to investigate the influences of water content (10-90%), solid-liquid solvent (1:10-1:50 g/mL), time (4-12 min), temperature (40-80 °C) and ultrasonic power (100-500 W) on the yield of Lentinus edodes polysaccharides. The optimal extraction conditions were ultrasonic power of 300 W, extraction time of 8 min, water content of 80%, a solid-liquid ratio of 1:30 g/mL and a temperature of 60 °C, respectively. The highest extraction yield of Lentinus edodes polysaccharide was 10.17% under optimal conditions. The results of FT-IR, SEM, and monosaccharide composition confirmed that the extracts possessed the characteristics of polysaccharides. In addition, the polysaccharides obtained with the UE enhanced with DES method exhibited higher antioxidant activities than the polysaccharides extracted with the UE method and HWE method. This extraction method can further expand the production efficiency and structural diversity of Lentinus edodes polysaccharides and meet the supply and demand relationship. It can be foreseen that this method can be applied to the extraction of more active substances.

OBJECTIVES: Mediastinal neoplasms are typical but uncommon thoracic diseases with increasing incidence and unfavorable prognoses. A comprehensive understanding of their spatiotemporal distribution is essential for accurate diagnosis and timely treatment. However, previous studies are limited in scale and data coverage. Therefore, this study aims to elucidate the distribution of mediastinal lesions, offering valuable insights into this disease. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This multi-center, hospital-based observational study included 20 nationwide institutions. A retrospective search of electronic medical records from January 1st, 2009, to December 31st, 2020, was conducted, collecting sociodemographic data, computed tomography images, and pathologic diagnoses. Analysis focused on age, sex, time, location, and geographical region. Comparative assessments were made with global data from a multi-center database. RESULTS: Among 7,765 cases, thymomas (30.7%), benign mediastinal cysts (23.4%), and neurogenic tumors (10.0%) were predominant. Distribution varied across mediastinal compartments, with thymomas (39.6%), benign cysts (28.1%), and neurogenic tumors (51.9%) most prevalent in the prevascular, visceral, and paravertebral mediastinum, respectively. Age-specific variations were notable, with germ cell tumors prominent in patients under 18 and aged 18-29, while thymomas were more common in patients over 30. The composition of mediastinal lesions across different regions of China remained relatively consistent, but it differs from that of the global population. CONCLUSION: This study revealed significant heterogeneity in the spatiotemporal distribution of mediastinal neoplasms. These findings provide useful demographic data when considering the differential diagnosis of mediastinal lesions, and would be beneficial for tailoring disease prevention and control strategies.

Gyrovirus galga1 (GyVg1), a member of the Anelloviridae family and Gyrovirus genus, has been detected in chicken and human tissue samples. In this study, the DNA of GyVg1-related gyroviruses in the sera of six dogs and three cats from Central and Eastern China was identified using PCR. Alignment analysis between the nine obtained and reference GyVg1 strains revealed that the genome identity ranged from 99.20% (DOG03 and DOG04 strains) to 96.17% (DOG01 and DOG06 strains). Six recombination events were predicted in multiple strains, including DOG01, DOG05, DOG06, CAT01, CAT02, and CAT03. The predicted major and minor parents of DOG05 came from Brazil. The DOG06 strain is potentially recombined from strains originating from humans and cats, whereas DOG01 is potentially recombined from G17 (ferret-originated) and Ave3 (chicken-originated), indicating that transmissions across species and regions may occur. Sixteen representative amino acid mutation sites were identified: nine in VP1 (12 R/H, 114S/N, 123I/M, 167 L/P, 231 P/S, 237 P/L, 243 R/W, 335 T/A, and 444S/N), four in VP2 (81 A/P, 103 R/H, 223 R/G, and 228 A/T), and three in VP3 (38 M/I, 61 A/T, and 65 V/A). These mutations were only harbored in strains identified in dogs and cats in this study. Whether this is related to host tropism needs further investigation. In this study, GyVg1 was identified in the sera of dogs and cats, and the molecular characteristics prompted the attention of public health.

Doping is a recognized method for enhancing catalytic performance. The introduction of strains is a common consequence of doping, although it is often overlooked. Differentiating the impact of doping and strain on catalytic performance poses a significant challenge. In this study, Cu-doped Bi catalysts with substantial tensile strain are synthesized. The synergistic effects of doping and strain in bismuth result in a remarkable CO2RR performance. Under optimized conditions, Cu1/6-Bi demonstrates exceptional formate Faradaic efficiency (>95%) and maintains over 90% across a wide potential window of 900 mV. Furthermore, it delivers an industrial-relevant partial current density of -317 mA cm-2 at -1.2 VRHE in a flow cell, while maintaining its selectivity. Additionally, it exhibits exceptional long-term stability, surpassing 120 h at -200 mA cm-2. Through experimental and theoretical mechanistic investigations, it has been determined that the introduction of tensile strain facilitates the adsorption of *CO2, thereby enhancing the reaction kinetics. Moreover, the presence of Cu dopants and tensile strain further diminishes the energy barrier for the formation of *OCHO intermediate. This study not only offers valuable insights for the development of effective catalysts for CO2RR through doping, but also establishes correlations between doping, lattice strains, and catalytic properties of bismuth catalysts.

Three sweet potato varieties grew in natural high temperature (HT) and low temperature (LT) field soils. Their starch physicochemical properties were affected similarly by HT and LT soils. Compared with LT soil, HT soil induced the increases of granule size D[4,3] from 18.0-18.7 to 19.9-21.8 µm and amylopectin average branch-chain length from 21.9-23.1 to 24.1-24.7 DP. Starches from root tubers grown in HT and LT soils exhibited CA- and CC-type XRD pattern, respectively. Starches from root tubers grown in HT soil exhibited stronger lamellar peak intensities (366.8-432.0) and higher gelatinization peak temperature (72.0-76.8 °C) than those (176.2-260.5, 56.4-63.4 °C) in LT soil. Native starches from root tubers grown in LT soil were hydrolyzed more easily (hydrolysis rate coefficient 0.227-0.282 h-1) by amylase than those (0.120-0.163 h-1) in HT soil. The principal component analysis exhibited that starches from root tubers grown in HT and LT soils had significantly different physicochemical properties.

The servo circuit of quartz flexible accelerometer is an extremely vital microelectronic device in inertial system. The paper introduces the traditional analysis process about output saturation fault of accelerometer servo circuit. For the shortcomings of traditional analysis methods, a fault diagnosis method based on feature electrical parameters extraction is proposed. According to the fault phenomenon, combined with the modular characteristics of hybrid integrated circuits, the feature electrical parameters of fault modes are extracted, and the fault modes' judgment basis is set. By the judgment results of the feature electrical parameters of the fault circuit, the circuit with output saturation fault caused by the electrical damage to the differential capacitance detector and other faults can be located quickly and accurately, and it is verified by the analysis of faulty circuit samples. Targeted for these faults, the improvement measures are put forward. This analysis method improves the fault diagnosis efficiency and reliability about the accelerometer servo circuit, and has guiding significance for enhancing the success rate of the failure analysis in the hybrid integrated circuits.

Pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (PLP) is highly valuable in food and medicine. However, achieving the efficient biosynthesis of PLP remains challenging. Here, a salvage pathway using acid phosphatase from Salmonella typhi (StAPase) and pyridoxine oxidase from Escherichia coli (EcPNPO) as pathway enzymes was established for the first time to synthesize PLP from pyridoxine (PN) and pyrophosphate (PPi). StAPase was identified as a rate-limiting enzyme. Two protein modification strategies were developed based on the PN phosphorylation mechanism: (1) improving the binding of PN into StAPase and (2) enhancing the hydrophobicity of StAPase's substrate binding pocket. The kcat/Km of optimal mutant M7 was 4.9 times higher than that of the wild type. The detailed mechanism of performance improvement was analyzed. Under the catalysis of M7 and EcPNPO, a PLP high-yielding strain of 14.5 ± 0.55 g/L was engineered with a productivity of 1.0 ± 0.02 g/(L h) (the highest to date). The study suggests a promising method for industrial-scale PLP production.

BACKGROUND: In lung transplantation (LTx) surgery, veno-arterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VA-ECMO) can provide mechanical circulatory support to patients with cardiopulmonary failure. However, the use of heparin in the administration of ECMO can increase blood loss during LTx. This study aimed to evaluate the safety of heparin-free V-A ECMO strategies. METHODS: From September 2019 to April 2022, patients who underwent lung transplantation at the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University were retrospectively reviewed. A total of 229 patients were included, including 117 patients in the ECMO group and 112 in the non-ECMO group. RESULT: There was no significant difference in the incidence of thrombus events and bleeding requiring reoperation between the two groups. The in-hospital survival rate after single lung transplantation (SLTx) was 81.08%in the ECMO group and 85.14% in the Non-ECMO group, (P = 0.585). The in-hospital survival rate after double lung transplantation (DLTx) was 80.00% in the ECMO group and 92.11% in the Non-ECMO groups (P = 0.095). CONCLUSIONS: In conclusion, the findings of this study suggest that the heparin-free V-A ECMO strategy in lung transplantation is a safe approach that does not increase the incidence of perioperative thrombotic events or bleeding requiring reoperation.

Over the past decade, additive manufacturing-or "three-dimensional (3D) printing"-has attracted increasing attention in the Lab on a Chip community as a pathway to achieve sophisticated system architectures that are difficult or infeasible to fabricate via conventional means. One particularly promising 3D manufacturing technology is "direct laser writing (DLW)", which leverages two-photon (or multi-photon) polymerization (2PP) phenomena to enable high geometric versatility, print speeds, and precision at length scales down to the 100 nm range. Although researchers have demonstrated the potential of using DLW for microfluidic applications ranging from organ on a chip and drug delivery to micro/nanoparticle processing and soft microrobotics, such scenarios present unique challenges for DLW. Specifically, microfluidic systems typically require macro-to-micro fluidic interfaces (e.g., inlet and outlet ports) to facilitate fluidic loading, control, and retrieval operations; however, DLW-based 3D printing relies on a micron-to-submicron-sized 2PP volume element (i.e., "voxel") that is poorly suited for manufacturing these larger-scale fluidic interfaces. In this Tutorial Review, we highlight and discuss the four most prominent strategies that researchers have developed to circumvent this trade-off and realize macro-to-micro interfaces for DLW-enabled microfluidic components and systems. In addition, we consider the possibility that-with the advent of next-generation commercial DLW printers equipped with new dynamic voxel tuning, print field, and laser power capabilities-the overall utility of DLW strategies for Lab on a Chip fields may soon expand dramatically.

Firefighters are frequently exposed to a variety of chemicals formed from smoke, which pose a risk for numerous diseases, including cancer. Comparative urine proteome profiling could significantly improve our understanding of the early detection of potential cancer biomarkers. In this study, for the first time, we conducted a comparative protein profile analysis of 20 urine samples collected from ten real-life firefighters prior to and following emergency fire-induced smoke. Using a label-free quantitative proteomics platform, we identified and quantified 1325 unique protein groups, of which 45 proteins showed differential expressions in abundance in response to fire-smoke exposure (post) compared to the control (pre). Pathway analysis showed proteins associated with epithelium development (e.g., RHCG, HEG1, ADAMTSL2) and Alzheimer's disease (SORL1) were significantly increased in response to smoke exposure samples. A protein-protein-network study showed a possible link between these differentially abundant proteins and the known cancer gene (TP53). Moreover, a cross-comparison analysis revealed that seven proteins-ALDH1A1, APCS, POMC, COL2A1, RDX, DDAH2, and SDC4 overlapped with the previously published urine cancer proteome datasets, suggesting a potential cancer risk. Our findings demonstrated that the discovery proteomic platform is a promising analytical technique for identifying potential non-invasive biomarkers associated with fire-smoke exposure in firefighters that may be related to cancer.

BACKGROUND: Monkeypox is an emerging infectious disease with confirmed cases and deaths in several parts of the world. In light of this crisis, this study aims to analyze the global knowledge pattern of monkeypox-related patents and explore current trends and future technical directions in the medical development of monkeypox to inform research and policy. METHODS: A comprehensive study of 1,791 monkeypox-related patents worldwide was conducted using the Derwent patent database by descriptive statistics, social network method and linear regression analysis. RESULTS: Since the 21st century, the number of monkeypox-related patents has increased rapidly, accompanied by increases in collaboration between commercial and academic patentees. Enterprises contributed the most in patent quantity, whereas the initial milestone patent was filed by academia. The core developments of technology related to the monkeypox include biological and chemical medicine. The innovations of vaccines and virus testing lack sufficient patent support in portfolios. CONCLUSIONS: Monkeypox-related therapeutic innovation is geographically limited with strong international intellectual property right barriers though it has increased rapidly in recent years. The transparent licensing of patent knowledge is driven by the merger and acquisition model, and the venture capital, intellectual property and contract research organization model. Currently, the patent thicket phenomenon in the monkeypox field may slow the progress of efforts to combat monkeypox. Enterprises should pay more attention to the sharing of technical knowledge, make full use of drug repurposing strategies, and promote innovation of monkeypox-related technology in hotspots of antivirals (such as tecovirimat, cidofovir, brincidofovir), vaccines (JYNNEOS, ACAM2000), herbal medicine and gene therapy.
